Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Things With Wings

Hello crafty friends and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thanks to all who played along with us last time and we hope you will join us this week too. This week our challenge theme is Things With Wings and the Design Team is adding some wings – angels, butterflies, anything with wings!

For my project this week I wanted to use these beautiful Angel Wings stencil + die set from Simon Says Stamp. For my panel, I used a Stampers Anonymous Rectangle Etcetera Panel that I covered with a piece of Dina Wakley Typed Ledger and some gesso. To create my stenciled wings, I added layers of stenciled Distress Oxide in Antique Linen, Tattered Rose and Pumice Stone and one layer with Sparkle Texture Paste and Chunky Rock Candy Glitter.

To add some volume to the wings I cut them out again twice from vellum, and again from Simon Says Stamp Champagne Cardstock. I layered the wings then splattered them with white splatter and Gilded Foundry Wax. I painted the edges of the wings with Gilded Wax and embossed them with my embossing tool.

For finishing touches on my panel, I added some Hickory Smoke Distress Archival Ink to the edges of the panel and some Distress Translucent Crackle Paste. I misted the entire panel with some Tattered Rose Distress Spritz. To create the heart focal point, I added a painted Tim Holtz Salvaged Heart and a sticker from the Idea-ology Christmas sticker book. Finally, I mounted the entire panel onto a larger panel that I covered with Simon Says Stamp Matte Gold Cardstock.
