Hi there crafty friends, today I am sharing a fun interactive card with you that I designed for Tim Holtz’s most recent Facebook Live. If you have not seen all the awesome new Halloween stamps, you can watch it HERE. When I saw the fun sketched images in the Weird Science set, I loved the ribcage with the gears and imagined there would be gears inside the body too…so I created them.
To make the main panel, I inked up a piece of Mixed Media Heavystock with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink then stamped the ribcage image from the Weird Science set. The stitched panel was created by cutting a Thinlits stitched rectangle and also inking it with Antique Linen Ink and stenciling it with the Decayed Layering Stencil using the Frayed Burlap and Gathered twigs. To create the back patterned panel, I created an inky panel with Weathered Wood and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks then I stamped the formula and the number/ruler stamp all over to create a pattern using Distress Archival Inks.
To create the panel for the gears, I cut a piece of paper a bit smaller than the stitched rectangle and covered the left side with gears from the Gearheads die and I glued that panel onto my background. Then I adhered the main panel onto the the stitched panel and cut around the ribs on one side to make a flap. Using the craft pick, I placed the hinge where it would go then poked holes through the holes with my craft pick and added the brads to secure it. I also added a piece of black paper to the back side of the flap. I did this by stamping the ribcage on a piece of black cardstock and cutting out the image again. Once all of this was done, I put foam tape around the back of the rectangle panel and adhered it to the piece with the printed panel and the gears. I hope you found this card as fun and spooky as I did!
